The Nottingham Tapes part 11 of 14.
The MP3 is very shitty- that's all.
I'm pretty sure this was recorded in their garage. This was before Hanson was even recognized truly. They were a local band that practiced in their garage, and it's not too surprising they practiced on songs like this.
But yeah, Jackson 5 were recording in a studio when they did this song I think, so of course the sound quality will be off if Hanson was in a garage. -shrugs- To each his own, but I'm sure they weren't trying to show up Jackson 5.

lol, trust me, it does not SUCK :) This recording isn't the greatest and I think they were probably trying a little bit too hard to SOUND just like Jackson 5 at this point, but it truly is amazing just how much Tay sounded like MJ when he was 11!
I wouldn't say they were BETTER than Jackson 5 because that's just silly, but they are and always have been incredibly, incredibly talented individuals :) Very few 11 year olds can equal young MJ's vocal talent, and Taylor Hanson was one of them.

Kind of like the Pepsi Coke challenge. I wonder how many people would really be able to tell the difference between the Jackson 5 singing this and Hanson. The only difference is that the J5 recorded in a professional studio. Hanson, at the time, recorded in their garage and rented recording space.

I'm not sure about that, many cover songs Ive heard are easily better than the original versions. Here is a big Hanson fan commenting and I love this version of the band, however, J5's original is of course carried out way much smoother, that said better.
